Vis-A-Vis is an organization on campus that will set you up with a placement in a Spanish bilingual or ESL classroom. Below you will find the four participating schools and how you can get involved with tutoring. Please keep in mind that tutoring does require a background check. This can take time, so plan accordingly. You can work at other schools, too, as long as you will be able to work with local Latinx students.
Attend one: Registration Nights will be held at the University YMCA in the Wahl Room(1001 South Wright Street): Tuesday January 28th and Thursday January 30th from 6-8PM.

IPA is Champaign Unit 4’s only dual language elementary school, serving approximately 235 K-5th grade English- and Spanish-speaking students. The school day runs from 7:50-2:05. The day typically begins with Spanish instruction and changes over to English in the late morning hours.* Volunteers work directly with students, providing one-on-one tutoring and assisting with classroom activities. At the lower elementary level, many volunteers work with individual students on letter and sound identification, letter tracing, and early literacy activities. Upper elementary volunteers often work with struggling students to help them catch up.
