  SPAN 332: Spanish & Entrepreneurship

Project Description:  The Refugee Center will have a fundraiser dinner this semester.  This team will help organize the volunteer efforts, market the event, seek sponsors, and take leadership roles during the dinner.  Must coordinate communications between team members and ECIRMAC employees/Board members.  After the event, document here lessons-learned and pre-planning for 2014.

Project Description:  Write a case study about Brittany Koteles and her entrepreneurial endeavors. You need to do some research about her and her projects (start by googling her and searching for her at http://spanishandillinois.blogspot.com/), develop interview questions, contact her (brittany.koteles@gmail.com) to arrange an interview, conduct the interview, write it up as a case study that can be used in future SPAN 332 classes.

Project Description:  Design a poster and handout materials and present them at the Public Engagement Symposium and the

Social Entrepreneurship and Service Learning Showcase (or a different venue if the showcase doesn't take place this year) to promote the work of SPAN 232 & 332.  (OJO:  Note the Wednesday, January 30 deadline to submit your proposal for the Public Engagement Symposium.)  Poster content and/or handouts would be a profile of a former SPAN 232/332 student, the impact the courses had on his/her studies, and how the person is still engaged.  (Prof. Abbott can give you some leads for people to contact to interview.)  If your proposal is accepted, you will present it at the symposium.  Click here to see how last year's students handled this project.
